The Movie Brand
For over six decades Hamilton’s distinctive watches have caught the attention of the world’s leading screen stylists. Their eye-catching shapes, materials and unique designs earn them roles in the most diverse movie genres, ranging from action pictures such as DIE HARD, OCEAN’S ELEVEN, PREDATORS, ABDUCTION, science fiction movies like MEN IN BLACK, INDEPENDENCE DAY, 2001:THE SPACE ODYSSEY, to comedy classics like KILLERS, GET SMART, YOU’VE GOT MAIL, BLUE HAWAII and dramas such as A BEAUTIFUL MIND, or THE GOOD GERMAN.
Inspirational elements for modern watch design
The brand is constantly working with directors, prop masters, costume designers and technical staff to design models that are the perfect fit for the actors and the script. In 1960s producer Stanley Kubrick approached the brand to develop a watch and a table clock for his new futuristic film 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. For the Sci-Fi movies Men in Black and Men in Black 2 Hamilton specially equipped its iconic Ventura with a light dial. The Khaki Twilight, also was created for the needs of the movie I AM LEGEND. It integrates the facility to countdown to the beginning and end of twilight.
Because of its long tradition of creating timepieces with out-of-this-world design and functionality, Hamilton opened a futuristic online laboratory, www.hamilton-lab.com where fans can discover and order very innovative models inspired from cinema.
International Career
As THE movie brand, Hamilton extended its cinematographic career to roles not only in major American productions but also in European, Russian and Chinese movies. In addition to appearances in the French movies HELLO GOOD BYE, MR 73 or in LES HERBES FOLLES presented in Cannes, the distinctive Hamilton models were also featured in the Chinese version of WHAT WOMEN WANT and Russian movie Patient love. The tradition is set to continue with many new appearances currently in production.

The Hamilton involvement in the movie world extends far beyond product. Each year, Hamilton hosts the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Hollywood to honor special artists for their individual impact on the film industry. The awards spotlight the vital and highly creative work carried out behind the scenes to make a movie successful, whether it is screenwriting or the demanding work of the prop-master or costume designer.
The choice of honorees is based on the knowledgeable advice of professionals for each chosen category, from among the movies released during the year and/or presented at prestigious festivals of Cannes, Toronto and Venice and the Festival of the American Film Institute. The categories are:
DIRECTOR
SCREENWRITER
PRODUCER
PRODUCTION DESIGNER
CINEMATOGRAPHER
FILM EDITOR
COSTUME DESIGNER
PROPMASTER
FOREIGN FILM
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN FILM EDITING
The recognition of these off-screen superstars is underlined with the presentation of the awards by leading actors, actresses and other movie professionals. Harrison Ford, Anne Hathaway, Christopher Nolan, Sean Penn, Lucy Liu, Zoe Saldana, Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz, rewarded their fellow filmmakers in the past years.
When a script is ready to be made , it’s necessary that it lands in the lap of the right producer. DreamAgo is an association that aims to help develop, support and promote films that make a difference. Together with Hamilton International the association organizes speed-dating sessions called “HAMILTON HELPS DREAMAGO CONNECT” to help writers from all over the world meet that ideal producer who would bring to the screen their scenario.
In energetic speed-dating sessions lasting ten minutes per encounter, twelve selected writers will have the opportunity to meet face to face with some big producers.
DreamAgo helps develop, support and promote films that make a difference. Every year the association organizes an international screenwriting atelier "Plume & Pellicule" where selected scripts are workshopped under the guidance of well-known, experienced, and supportive consultants. DreamAgo brings then these projects to the next stage:
In 2011 Hamilton developed a Short movie contest to honor the best short picture production from film students at various educational institutions throughout the world. Submissions came from students at several different film schools and programs including the Art and movie school (ZHdK) and Webster University in Switzerland, the National Film School and Experimental Cinematographic Foundation in Italy as well as the Toronto film school in Canada.
Participants were asked to create a short film linked to the theme of Time and to feature Hamilton’s products and spirit. Productions were judged on creativity as well as technical execution, and the results were overwhelmingly impressive. Movies such as “Timeshift”, “Running out of Time” and “Time for Women” were just three of the array of exceptional films that highlighted the talent and ambition of these young filmmakers.
The Best of short movie goes to Evelina De Gaudenzi, a graduate of the Experimental Cinematographic Foundation in Milan, Italy. Her movie, “Time for Women,” starring the famous Italian actress Valentina Lodovini, is aimed to promote women’s participation in filmmaking.
